Below is a selection of our Frequently Asked Questions and answers. If this page does not answer your query, please just contact us on 01326 572154 or fill out an enquiry form on the left hand side of this page, and we will be more than happy to help!

Q: is Cornish Tin & Gold real gold?

A: Yes. Gold used in jewellery making is never pure gold. Other metals are added to induce properties and also dilute the gold.

So for example, 9 carat yellow gold, is hallmarked 375. This means 375 parts out of 1000 is gold, with the other amount being other metals.

In our alloy, the shipwrecked Cornish Tin is added in the place of some of the ‘other’ metals added. The gold purity is the same as in any other 9 carat or 18 carat jewellery!
